Biography
Dr. Sonia Nagyal is a healthcare professional and compassionate leader who has served humanity since 2007, with a career rooted in Hematopathology, Oncopathology, oncology research, healthcare leadership, and the human side of illness. Having served at some of India's leading healthcare institutions, including Narayana Health, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Fortis Healthcare, and Medanta, she has worked closely with patients and families navigating life-changing diagnoses.
Her work goes beyond diagnosing disease. She believes that every diagnosis belongs to a human being, a family, a story, and a life. As a Hematopathologist and Oncopathologist, she strives for scientific accuracy and meaningful clinical impact. As an oncology researcher, she seeks better understanding and better possibilities. As an advocate of onco-psychological and compassionate care, she recognises that healing is not only about treating the disease, but also about helping people navigate fear, uncertainty, suffering, and grief.
Guided by a simple question of how she can bring ease to diseased human beings, she aspires to build healthcare that combines science with sensitivity, technology with humanity, and expertise with empathy. Behind every clinical laboratory report is a person waiting for an answer, and behind every patient is a family hoping for strength.
Currently serving in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, a region with significant healthcare challenges, Dr. Nagyal remains deeply committed to making quality healthcare and compassionate support accessible to underserved communities. As Chief Strategy Officer of NiVan Foundation, she brings her expertise in healthcare, grief support, and patient counselling to shape initiatives that promote emotional well-being, compassionate caregiving, and holistic healing. Her commitment is to diagnose with precision, lead with purpose, research for better possibilities, care with compassion, and serve humanity with dignity.
